Honouring Vesak Festival | SALE
The Vesak Festival, also spelled Wesak happens on the Taurus full moon of May. This year it's Wednesday May 26th. I'm sharing this early as an invitation to join me in fine tuning the inner antennas and to realign ourselves on what is of importance and steers us on a direct path. Vesak celebrates the birth of Buddha and his teachings as well as the Christ consciousness and the essence of awakening. It is also said to be a time where the veil between dimensions is thinner. A time to pay heed to ascended masters.
A number of years ago I was invited to a small gathering at Grail Springs to honour Vesak. I knew nothing about it beforehand yet our time together remains one of the most profound spiritual teachings of my life. We were about eleven practitioners for three days. A Tibetan monk, a couple of shamans, a first nations chief, an astrologer, a former priest, a druid and a sound healer. In the first two days we honoured noble silence while juice cleansing. Our gatherings were in a teepee on the land. Each day we would take turns offering teachings, meditations or ceremonies attuned to our respective journeys. Those who were not in the process of sharing or teaching, listened deeply. The days were long from sunrise to midnight. All of nature seemed to be aware of our intentions and presence. From the welcome call of the lune on Chalice Lake in the morning, to the owl and coyote call at night behind our cabin at the foot of the forest, to the deer meandering around the teepee. All held the humble presence of a birthing that filled the heart.
The day before the full moon we focused on cleansing our energy of what was no longer serving us. There were juices prepared for us. We eliminated food, negative thoughts and ill habits we slipped into over the year, including technology to the best of our ability. We meditated and made space to be fully present with the land, forest and all the new life of Spring.
The day of the full moon was dedicated to meditation and prayer, which may appear in forms of offerings of gratitude or deep communion with what guides our life. It was a day to tune in and silently listen as if you were in intimate conversation with Buddha, Christ, the Divine Mother or Grandfather Sky, or any wisdom keeper. When the moon hung high in the sky we meditated with crystal singing bowls to further our alignment. It was positively electric.
The day to follow was dedicated to service. Each of us experienced a tremendous expansion of prana, joy and immense gratitude for the offering of this container. Through the day we shared our first and last meal together and what each of us would take away into our own paths. As we departed, reciprocity felt as easy as exhaling.
Although I’ve not attended a gathering as unique as this one, I have aimed to honour Vesak each year in some way. Since we are living in intensely crazy times on the planet, a little or a lot of this type of practice to cleanse and align would be a magnificent elixir to the heart, guaranteed.
I will honour the three days this year. The day before the full moon and day of, May 25/26 to be unwired, juicing and clearing, in noble silence, meditation and practice.
