PAST RETREAT - Mindful Gastronomy ITALY 2022

The Italy Experiential/Meditative Retreat

This very special retreat is focused on mindfulness

and gastronomy and will be well worth the wait.

stay tuned for the next dates

Join me for a very special retreat in the hills of Le Marche, Italy where we will unravel our busyness and delve into tastes of a slow movement. From meditation to yoga and Qigong, from sourcing our food to outdoor dining with a culinary twist.

We will stay in Italy’s Le Marche region of rolling hills of olive orchards and constant vineyards spotted with historical hilltop cities. A neighbour to Tuscany yet far from the tourist buses and souvenir stores.

One of my focuses for this retreat will be to experience food as directly from source as the sun and rain nourish the soil. To see deeply into this extraordinary sustenance we get to share.

We will visit local markets and artisanal shops for ingredients in some of the exquisite historic hillside cities.

We will hunt for truffles with Alessandro and his faithful dogs Frida and Viola to harvest that day’s bounty and after run into what comes next: a super delicious meal with fresh truffles prepared by Alessandro.

We’ll learn how to turn flour into a wood-fired lasagne, ravioli, tagliolini and pici noodles.

We have a teaching kitchen in the villa for those interested to learn the art of the recipes we get to savour. It is my aim to create a breath of life inspired cookbook of our week. A contemplative week to experience food as meditation and medicine, as art, as poetry in a communal share.

Perhaps we will also enjoy a day trip to the sea or the city of Assisi. I’ll take a vote.

If you have no interest in food, come for the meditation and gentle movement. Come to contemplate peace in a place of stillness and read and write the next chapter of your wonderful life. We’ll still feed your well.

We will stay in a beautifully restored country villa and attached studio set on a hillside of spectacular vistas near Pergola. The two buildings are attached by strings of tiny lights that illuminate our outdoor eating table.
