The Essence of a Good Life

Imprints... When Gisele and I were talking about how we walk the earth, she shared the words of an older man that she admired who would say, "The mark of a blessed life comes from leaving every person and every place better for you're being there." That makes me smile. Such a teaching demands being mindful, conscious and kind. It's easy to imagine how much better off we'd all be to create that world? When we lose our "What About Me?" view and look after one another we all stand to benefit from happier and more fulfilled lives. As Ghandi said, "The best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others." Native American's have the 7th Generation principle which states that when we are making a decision we should consider the impact of seven generations in to the future. Wow. When this philosophy is heard it is often thought of from just an environmental sustainability context, but it is meant to run much deeper. It is a way of life that is supposed to impact all decisions, whether personal, business, governmental. It is an excellent and important reminder of the long term connection and impact both between each other and Mother Nature.
