The Haelan Retreat unfolds today in the cradle of Ireland’s Burren, a region in County Clare where the limestone hills meet the sea. A region where the negative ions from the sea water, the water beneath the limestones and the rain water unite with our physical bodies of water and a sense of peace, calming and familiarity begin.
The week of prep for the retreat was met with grey skies and lots of rain. Yesterday there was 40+ mm of rain and at times horizontal with the winds, but even when the days are dark the patterns of hues in the vast expanse somehow warms the heart. And sleeping amidst these fertile hills with its fresh breeze is simply medicinal.
Michele and I have enjoyed a few adventures in our preparations, heart warming community, good food and plenty of laughter.
The sun is rising, the birds are singing, let the retreat begin.
