Your Wishes are in Bloom

We have granted our first Wish!

First of all, we would like to express our gratitude to everyone who participated in our Grant a Wish promotion. It is the stories that we hear from you that give us so much inspiration, motivation, and daily happiness that keep us going. Our winners have been selected and we will be announcing them throughout the month, starting with right now! We are excited to say that Alison is our first recipient with this wish:

"My dear friend has been going through a really rough time for a few years now, with grieving a parent and facing unrelenting health issues. Ganesh is very special to her and gives her comfort and strength, so my wish would be for her to have this necklace: https://tbds.org/shop/small-mighty-ganesh-rose-gold/"

Congratulations Alison! Your friend is very lucky to have someone as thoughtful as you in her life.

On the topic of retreats, a friend recently shared scientific research she found (brain scans incl. long term studies of individuals) comparing mindfulness/meditation practice in retreat settings confer more benefits than daily practice. If you take two individuals with identical lifetime hours of meditation practice, there are more lasting changes in people who have gone on retreats (brains and behaviour).

This week I was thinking about how challenging it can be to be who we are and live in our place of heart when there are so many directives and expectations that we should behave in a particular way. How we present ourselves to the world and how we think are so influenced by our upbringing, peers and culture...

Rumi says "Let the beauty of what we love be what we do." I'm counting my blessings, both having carved a life by creating contemplative jewellery and now also enjoying the opportunity to create experience for people though retreats.

It took a long time for my body and mind to readjust from east to west, as it always does. Between the 10 hour time difference and the culture extremes, the practice of coupling patience and tenacity definitely came in handy.
